An exclusive experience in the heart of the Maremma
“Passion of the Herdsmen” is an experience dedicated to those who want to experience working with livestock in an authentic and exclusive way, in the heart of the Maremma.
This is not a folkloric demonstration, but a real experience, where horse, rider and herd work together through balance, communication and trust.
The project stems from the tradition of the Maremma Butteri, but also opens up to the great equestrian cultures of working with livestock from all over the world: American Buckaroos, Spanish Vaqueros, Argentine Gauchos, Camargue Gardians and other styles of stockmanship united by the same values and the same connection with the horse.
An authentic environment
Between pastures, a natural lake and animals raised in controlled freedom – cattle, sheep, donkeys and horses – you enter an environment where working with animals is part of everyday life.
Working horses are prepared to cooperate confidently and sensitively in the real management of the herd.
Here tradition is not told: it is lived.
Three generations, two nationalities – ONE passion
This project was born from the encounter between:
Alessandro Zampieri, former Head of Buttero of the Alberese Regional Company
Alberto Lazzarin, Buttero at Terre di Sacra, Capalbio
Heidi Mayer Pellegrini, Environmental Equestrian Guide of the Tuscany Region, ENGEA instructor, P-Ranch Alberese manager
Two Italians, one German, three generations united by the same passion: the horse, the cattle and the art of working with the herd.
Beyond equestrian disciplines
Buttero in Italy, Buckaroo in America, Vaquero in Spain, Gaucho in Argentina or Gardian in the Camargue: everywhere there is this special bond between horse and rider in working with livestock.
“Passion of the Herdsmen” is open to riders from any equestrian discipline, because working with cattle goes beyond styles and creates authentic and profound experiences.
An experience that remains
In the heart of the Maremma we want to share a true, intense and exclusive experience, dedicated to those who want to experience the horse in connection with nature, the herd and the great traditions of working with livestock.
A guided and progressive experience, for every level
The experience of herding and the art of herding is offered in a guided and progressive way: safe for beginners, formative for intermediate riders and technically demanding for experienced riders.
Beginners
